Speak clearly and be careful not to mumble or shout, either of which can happen when you are nervous.

If you find your throat gets dry, stop and take a drink of water. The interviewer will be patient.

If for any reason you become flustered, stop for a moment and collect your thoughts before continuing. It’s better to take a few seconds to calm down than to dig a hole deeper and deeper with babbling.

Keep in mind that the 80/20 rule applies to you as well. It’s all right to talk a lot—that’s what the interviewer expects—but don’t dominate the conversation to the exclusion of anyone else. If the interviewer signals that he wants to communicate something, let him do so.

Never interrupt. You want all information possible before engaging your mouth, and often the most important part of a statement or question comes in the latter part of the sentence. Get in the habit of listening to what is being said all the way through, rather than just waiting your turn to talk.
